Called to the bar in Alberta (2008) and British Columbia (2010), Chris received degrees in law (Western, 2007) and philosophy/politics (Simon Fraser, 2003) prior to articling and practicing with a large national firm. In 2012, Chris founded the independent Knight LLP law firm with offices in Calgary and Vancouver.

Desmond obtained his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Upon completion, he articled and practiced with the Heather Sadler Jenkins firm in Prince George, British Columbia. He has developed significant experience in several areas of law, including, insurance and commercial litigation.

In 2006, Mr. MacMillan moved to Calgary and has worked in private practice and in-house in the litigation department for a large insurance company. In 2012 Desmond joined Knight LLP. Desmond's practice is in the areas of commercial, construction, insurance, estates and general litigation.

Desmond has appeared in the courts of Alberta and British Columbia and has participated in a number of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Northern British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2005, and Alberta in 2007.

For nearly 30 years, Andrea has advised owner-operated and family businesses, entrepreneurs and non-resident investors across various industries. He has regularly helped clients on a variety of commercial matters including business transactions, debt and equity financings, franchises, intellectual property licensing, commercial litigation, exempt securities matters and the buying, selling, financing and leasing of commercial real estate.

Andrea started his legal career in Toronto in 1988 at a boutique Bay Street law firm where he articled and worked as an associate and partner. Upon returning to Calgary in 1994, he helped launch IT services group, Inner-Site Corporation, which was acquired by CDI Corporation (a $2 billion firm based in Santa Clara, California) in 1997. That year, he also founded Kre8tive Law Group, another boutique firm where he managed a staff of up to 13 people for 20 years before taking a step back from active practice in 2018. While at Kre8tive, he helped found GFLS Legal Alliance - an international network of independent law firms focused on the needs of SMEs with offices in Germany, Italy, Spain, Serbia and Brazil.

Andrea is deeply committed to improving the law firm business model. In 2010, Kre8tive Law was one of the first law firms in Canada to offer legal services on-line, go completely paperless and give their staff the ability to work remotely. Andrea's views have been published in several legal and business publications and blogs. As a technology enthusiast, Andrea continues to explore how technology can make the delivery of legal services more effective and affordable.

Andrea was a learning group facilitator for CPLED (Alberta’s bar admission course) and have been a panelist on seminars organized by the Canadian Bar Association and Legal Education Society of Alberta in addition to speaking at various industry events. Andrea has also authored A Guide to Non-resident Investment in Canada/Alberta.

Andrea is currently a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Calgary Bar Association.

Chris joined Knight LLP as an associate in October 2019. He was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2012 and has practiced with national, regional and boutique law firms in downtown Vancouver. Prior to joining Knight LLP, Chris was responsible for all litigation in British Columbia for the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada.

Chris practices in the areas of corporate commercial, construction, intellectual property, employment law and securities litigation. Chris has made appearances before the BC Provincial, BC Supreme Court, Federal Court, MFDA tribunal, and BC Securities Commission.

Chris takes a practical approach to litigation to help clients resolve disputes and when the situation warrants, Chris is an advocate for his clients in court. Chris acts as counsel to his clients and provides advice to assist with making business decisions at various stages.

When Chris is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Lindsey joined Knight LLP as an associate lawyer in March 2019.

Following the completion of his articles, Lindsey was called to the Alberta Bar in July 2018. Lindsey currently maintains a general civil litigation practice, focusing on corporate and commercial contractual disputes, construction and employment litigation, and real property disputes. He has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta.

Lindsey obtained his law degree from the University of Calgary in 2017. While in law school, he volunteered with Student Legal Assistance, providing legal representation to low-income Calgarians respecting various criminal and municipal matters. He was also a member of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society and was awarded gold medal in the 2016 NHL Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada.

During her time articling she successfully appeared in the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench. Upon completion of her articles, Madison was called to the Alberta Bar in October 2019.

While in law school Madison co-wrote a paper published by the Harvard Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law which she presented in 2017 at PlaytheGame.

In her free time, Madison likes to keep active and can be found on the soccer pitch, the volleyball court or in the curling rink.

Chinenye joined Knight LLP as a Student-at-Law in June 2019. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ilorin before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008 and subsequently obtained a Master of Laws degree.

Upon relocating to Canada in May 2018, Chinenye quickly obtained her National Committee on Accreditation's Certificate of Qualification. Prior to her relocation, she practiced mainly in the areas of civil litigation, corporate and commercial, employment law, real estate, personal injury law, and family law for over 8 years.

In her leisure time, Chinenye enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

John’s past experience in the Canadian Armed Forces lends well to all aspects of Knight LLP’s Intelligence and Investigation functions.  John is an experienced public administrator with experience in the fields of military justice and administrative law. John also has a passion for employment law and was awarded the Cal Wenzel Family Foundation Scholarship in December 2018 as recognition of his academic accomplishments and exemplary leadership.

John is currently a member of the Alberta Association of Professional Paralegals, The Royal Canadian Legion and the First Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Millican Ogden Community Association.
